Fabricator (Ongoing Contract)
We are currently looking for an experienced Fabricator to join a busy engineering workshop on an ongoing contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong fabrication and MIG welding experience who is looking for stable, long-term work within a professional workshop environment.
The position is approximately 95% workshop-based, with the work consisting of around 80% fabrication and 20% MIG welding. You will primarily be working with mild and secondary steel, with some aluminium work also involved.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate structural steel beams, staircases and bespoke steelwork.
- Carry out MIG welding on mild and secondary steel.
- Work with aluminium where required.
- Carry out gearbox repairs and associated fabrication work.
- Accurately measure, mark out and cut materials.
- Form, prepare and assemble steel components.
- Read and work from engineering and technical drawings.
Essential Skills
- Previous experience working as a Fabricator within an engineering or structural steel environment.
- Experience fabricating with mild steel and stainless steel.
- Good MIG welding experience.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret engineering/technical drawings.
- Strong understanding of fabrication processes, including measuring, cutting and forming.
- Good attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work.
Desirable
- Aluminium welding/fabrication experience.
- Experience with structural steel, staircases or bespoke steelwork.
- Previous experience carrying out repair and modification work.
