Mechanical Fitter, Permanent, £39,437.87 per annum, Glasgow

Responsibilities:

• Prepare machined components for final assembly of precision fluid film bearings
• Carry out final dressing, assembly, and pressure testing in line with strict quality standards
• Work closely with Quality Assurance to ensure components meet specification prior to final inspection
• Interpret and work from metric and imperial engineering drawings
• Use hand tools, air tools, rotating equipment, gas torches, and overhead cranes safely and effectively
• Identify and resolve assembly issues including defects, shortages, and quality concerns
• Support Continuous Improvement (CI) activities through root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions
• Contribute to departmental KPIs by analysing performance data and proposing improvements
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and workshop organisation
• Adhere to all Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices

Requirements:

• Time-served apprenticeship as a Mechanical Fitter
• Minimum 5 years’ post-apprenticeship experience in a mechanical fitting or assembly role
• HNC in Mechanical Engineering (preferred)
• Experience preparing components for precision assembly
• Knowledge of machining processes (advantageous)
• PC literate with strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
