CNC Machinist, up to £40,000 + OT paid at x1.5, Coldstream

Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and program CNC machines with Fanuc controls, including Doosan lathes, Haas mills, and Star GB machinery (training available)
- Manufacture both bespoke and standard components in line with engineering drawings, specifications, and tolerances
- Set up, run, and program CNC machines based on skill level and ongoing training
- Produce tooling, jigs, and fixtures to improve machining efficiency across departments
- Monitor machine performance, maintaining correct coolant and oil levels while ensuring optimal machining accuracy and program efficiency
- Perform quality inspections to verify that all components meet required tolerances and standards
- Manage material usage—return unused bar stock, track stock movements, and maintain bar feeders
- Prepare finished parts through cleaning, deburring, counting, and completing all relevant documentation
- Raise requisitions for completed work and record any scrap appropriately
- Action drawing requests and complete rework documentation when needed
- Provide guidance and support to junior or less-experienced engineers
- Carry out manual machining tasks when required
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work area, ensuring tools and equipment are securely stored after each shift
Requirements:
- Strong machining ability with experience in CNC machine operation
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and work to tight tolerances
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality components
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to maintain high productivity while adhering to safety and quality standard
Desirable Qualifications & Experience:
- Apprentice-trained background
- Experience in offline programming
- Knowledge of CNC CAD/CAM systems
- Experience working with Fanuc-controlled equipment
